Loving out loud is a form of resistance. Anti-tra Loving out loud is a form of resistance.

Anti-trans hate is on the rise and is showing up in even “small” ways. The song “Summer is Hot With My Little Trans Lover” getting flagged as sensitive content is a small expression of the much more dangerous actions around us.

I come to this conversation as a cisgender person who happens to be (out loud!) in love with a trans, non-binary person.

To learn from a trans-led organization that provides tools for trans, non-binary, two-spirit and gender non-confirming people to fight injustices against them support and learn from @justice.trans

Thank you @accessiblemediainc for having me on Now with Dave Brown to talk about how a love song can be part of a conversation for change.

This is a gay mullet account now. …if only I we This is a gay mullet account now.

…if only I were that focussed 😂

This account has always been a mix of the many things I do and care about: music, writing, film, radio, disability justice and representation, trans rights -- and, right now, ALSO my cute hair.

I've been told to pick a focus, but honestly, I'm not trying to build one particular artist profile or brand, I just want to share what matters to me and create connection where I can find it.

I've had a hard couple of weeks.

And yet, I'm safe and sound.

People I'm close and connected to are impacted by the fires. People I know nothing about are suffering the same and worse.

The other day, I had a chest grabbing cry on the floor. Then I went for a haircut. This world is so many things at once.

Connection online is its own mixed bag (understatement?), but I'd love to know:

How are you? Good, bad, big, small, let me know below ✨

Learning to take breaks when I need them. Which i Learning to take breaks when I need them.

Which is to say, I'm STILL learning.

Thirty+ years into living in this disabled body and I still grapple with accepting my limitations.

I often want to do more than I can.

Sometimes it makes sense to push myself a little further.

Sometimes that push helps me discover or increase my capacity.

Sometimes that push a little further ends up hurting my body.

Sometimes it's hard to predict which it will be.

Often, I need to allow myself to sit in the parking lot because that's what's available for rest.

(To be fair, this parking lot was near the Juan da Fuca trail on a glorious summer day -- a dreamy place to rest, even on concrete.)

I'll keep learning.

Trans people belong (and get love songs!) When th Trans people belong (and get love songs!)

When the song “Summer is Hot With My Little Trans Lover” got flagged as having explicit lyrics and as sensitive content, it was clearly just one aspect of anti-trans actions that surround us.

I come to this conversation as a cisgender person. A fantastic trans-led advocacy group in Canada to support, donate to, and learn from is @queer.momentum

Thank you @accessiblemediainc for having me on Now with Dave Brown to talk about how a love song can also be part of making change.

How can we tackle ableism every day of the year? How can we tackle ableism every day of the year?

Disability Pride Month is coming to an end, and @unwellunlimitedly has put together a list of 16 books for folks to keep learning about disability.

I’m so honoured my “How to Lose Everything” is on the list!

One of the best ways to not only educate ourselves but reshape our implicit biases is to become familiar with experiences and perspectives that are not our own.

Books are one of the best ways to do that.

Thank you, Bev, for including me. And go get these books from your local library or bookstore 📚

I've barely made progress and am starting to melt in frustration and confusion while she's completed a masterpiece with calm and style. 😂

Our old teacher Mrs Foot emailed us this photo this week. I love it. And I love you, my Lou.
