Gone Too Far
It was for a laugh, but we made it last
We spun the story
Partners in crime, just killing time
And I’m not sorry
But we’ve gone too far
And we both know
I should be strong and let go
We were breaking ground and I found
Blood was spilling
But I like my wounds, I’m glad they’re from you
Yes I was willing
But we’ve gone too far
And we both know
I should be strong and let go
I’m on the rooftop ‘cause I can’t make it stop
Gravity she’s persuading
And I hold my breath it’s all I’ve left
I’m stil waiting
But we’ve gone too far
And we both know
I should be strong and let go

THE MOST LOVELY
Oh brave soldier you’re back in town
After your patriot travels you want to settle down
You’re so handsome yes you’re so strong
To find a bride shouldn’t take you long
Surely you are the most lovely
I’ve been dutifily daily gazing across the sea
Waiting for your return to me
You have my number you know how to use it
You have my heart if you choose it
Surely I could be the most lovely
Well you don’t like crowds so we kept the ceremony small
Just you and me and your best friend from high school headed down to city hall
Now we’re living cozy in our little house on a hill
Though you still wake crying sometimes saying “never leave me”
Oh honey I never will
Surely you are the most lovely

A GRIEF AS THIS
I’ve never known a grief as this
a warmer kiss I’ll never give
and I’ll never know the smile of his
or what it is that turned him cold
I’ll never have as many flowers again
until my own days end
I don’t want it to be that such beauty reminds me
of just how empty a body can be
and he will never know the taste of my skin
or the comfort therein
and I’ll never know what I’m missing I guess
but I’m missing nonetheless
I’m sure that this is never meant to be
So don’t say this is God’s way
because God is not thinking of me
no I’ve never known a grief as this
a warmer kiss I’ll never give
as I’ve never been in love like this
and a love like this never ends

LET IT GO
You’ve been guarded for so long now
Can you even see beyond those walls you built so carefully
Look inside and you might find
You have some space for me
All those secrets you carry in your pockets
They weigh you down like stones
Let it go
You don’t need it
I won’t force you to disarm
I hope you know I’d never harm you – because I know what that feels like
You say it’s been too long since you let someone in
Maybe it’s like riding a bike
The silence just magnifies things
It feeds on what aches
Let it go
You don’t need it

CALLY’S WALTZ
Little fangs have bitten in to your sweet neck
Causing you to forget
What it was you were supposed to do today
But it doesn’t matter now – the sun’s gone down
Maybe I’m the reason it all went wrong
Maybe I could have been more faithful and strong
Would it make a difference or is it just a nice thought
No it didn’t make no difference – you’re gone
On the other side of the knocking there’s a tall lean man
He’s wearing a silk cravat
He promises far away places
But it doesn’t matter now – the sun’s gone down
Maybe I’m the reason it all went wrong
Maybe I could have been more faithful and strong
Would it make a difference or is it just a nice thought
No it didn’t make no difference – you’re gone
But it doesn’t matter now – the sun’s gone down
